The new standard stipulates that electrically insulating shoes shall be used as safety aids for electrical work. As an occupational safety manager, you should clearly understand this. Usually, managers with insufficient electrical knowledge will mistakenly think that 6kV insulated leather shoes or 5kV insulated shoes covered with cloth are used in 6kV or 5kV environments. This is very wrong. In electrical safety management, insulation tools are divided into basic safety equipment and auxiliary safety equipment. The so-called basic safety equipment refers to safety equipment with sufficient insulation strength to withstand the applied voltage of electricity, such as insulating rods, insulating clips and insulating platforms (ladders). Auxiliary safety equipment means insufficient to withstand electrical working voltage. During electrical operations, basic safety equipment (such as insulating mats, insulating boots) must not touch live parts. But it prevents personal injury due to step voltage. Insulated leather shoes and cloth insulated shoes are mainly used as auxiliary safety equipment, and their working frequency is below 1000V. The voltage level can usually be divided into: 6kV insulation boots, 20kV insulation boots, 25kV insulation boots and 35kV insulation boots. Adapt to environments with different voltage levels. Can meet the requirements of different sizes. Insulated leather shoes and cloth insulated shoes are mainly used as auxiliary safety equipment, and their working frequency is below 1000V. Precautions for using and maintaining insulating boots
1. In the high-voltage system, insulating boots are only used as auxiliary safety equipment, and direct contact with high-voltage charged objects is prohibited;
2. Insulating shoes should be correctly selected according to the voltage level of the workplace. It is prohibited to use low-voltage insulating boots as safety auxiliary equipment on high-voltage electrical equipment, and high-voltage insulating boots (boots) can be used as auxiliary safety equipment on high-voltage and low-voltage electrical equipment. However, regardless of whether you are wearing low-voltage or high-voltage insulating shoes (boots), do not touch electrical equipment directly with your hands.
3. Do not damage the use of insulating boots (boots). When wearing insulated boots, prevent hard and sharp objects from piercing the bottom; when wearing insulated boots, put the trouser legs inside the boots. When wearing insulated shoes, the length of the trousers should not be as long as the outer edge of the sole, let alone the ground, and keep the cloth surface dry.
4. Insulating boots should be placed in the cabinet. It is forbidden to use them instead of rain boots. They are used only in the surgical field.
5. Insulating shoes covered with cloth can only be used in a dry environment to avoid wet cover.
6. Rubber soles that are not resistant to acids, alkalis and oils should not be in contact with acids, alkalis and oily substances, and should be prevented from being pierced by sharp objects. Low-voltage insulating boots cannot be used as insulating boots if the bottom pattern is sanded and the inner color is exposed.
7. When purchasing insulating shoes (boots), please check whether there are permanent insulating traces on the shoes, such as the red lightning symbol, the pressure resistance of the sole, etc. Whether the shoes have qualification certificates, safety appraisal certificates and production license numbers, etc.
8. Insulating boots should be placed in a special cabinet and placed separately from other tools. Do not throw them away and use them as rain boots is strictly prohibited.
9. When wearing boots, put the trouser legs into the boots. When in use, please be careful not to be cut by sharp objects, and do not touch acids, alkalis, salts, other chemicals and various greases, so as not to damage the insulating material.
10. The service life of insulating shoes is specified by the manufacturer until the outsole is polished, that is to say, when the yellow surface glue (that is, the insulating layer) is exposed on the outsole, the insulating shoes are not suitable for electrical operation.
